Delhi at its best but still miles to go

Published by Mohit at 1:50 pm under India, Musing

I just returned couple of days back from 1 year complete  stay at London, UK. On the very first visit, any Indian(esp Delhite) will note the brilliant work by GMR in renovating the Delhi Internation - IGI airport. Although it still lack the lustre of ‘INTENATIONAL AIRPORT’ but dont forget its just start and things are not yet finished.

As soon as you came out and start your way back to city, broader roads, flyovers, underpass will take your attention. Unfortunately, traffic is still as bad as it was an year back. Another surprising factor was the presence of Nissan and Renault on Indian road alng with n number of new models of existing car manufacturer like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai etc. This shows the depth in Indian Market which is compelling big players to come to India. Next few days visit to malls and Delhi Metro clearly depicting Delhi hence India growth story.

Along with the development, things which catch my attention was noise, dust, pollution and people. Although new developments are going at good pace but dust, dirt and workers at the construction site depicts the story of poor India. You can still find ‘paan splits’ around the corners. With fog building up, several flights are delayed or cancelled. Broader roads decrease the stopping time on road but traffic sense is still terrible.

Although we are growing but there are still miles to go before we can sit & relax. We need to grow further, bring in more connectivity to Delhi Metro, each and every city need attention and not just metropolitan cities.  Also we need to build up general way of thinking along with the infrastructure. Following video really say a lot

Yes each and every city need attention and not just delhi \ mumbai . I am also traveling and I feel bad that development has happened in some pockets(5%) and not across India .

Went to Pune and found that there are more malls & apartments coming up on roads built some 10 yrs back . Bangalore is more pathetic with dust , dust and dust . Chennai is better then these two cities but cars cars and more cars and driving is horrible. Went to my native village of Bina which is some 3 hr by train from Bhopal and years away by road as there is no road . There is no visible change only some promised changes .

One common denominator in these cities is prices which are rocketing , 9% growth is eschewed and it is only on Dalal street and in few places otherwise standard of living has gone down compared to three years back

It is always easy to shrug the shoulders and blame our infrastucture.
You never get caught up in a traffic jam .. YOU are the traffic JAM.
Thinking may be a great way of getting things started. Doing is the way to get things DONE.

Are we going to keep thinking about what we should do or roll up our sleeves , get up , and DO some thing about it.

So what are we going to DO !!
