What was wrong with Saawariya ?
Saawariya review has started a flame war in the comments of my earlier post Saawariya and Om Shanti Om Movie Review . My personal take on this is Saawariya has not lived upto the expectation , reason is whenever Sanjay Leela Bhansali makes a movie he raises expectation . People were expecting the same this time also . See what he did in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam , Devdas & Black every time bar is raised by him but in Saawariya he failed on the expectations , he bored everyone and unlike his earlier movies failed to mesmerize the viewers , remember last scenes of Devdas where he made us cry or the initial scenes in Black where he sprinkled his magic .
How many scenes do we have in Saawariya which has his signatures ? I don’t think there were any (Unless you count blue color as his signature) and whatever were there vanished by the end of the movie due to the pace of the movie. Instead of making a “Sanjay Leela Bhansali Movie” he tried to make a “great movie” for global audience and failed .
Saawariya was not a flop but it is just that it didn’t lived up to the expectations had it been made by a XYZ director everyone must have been going ga-ga.

Rate Comment :I don’t think it failed expectations only…There were major flaws in the movie…The story itself was beautiful…If the movie had been made as it was meant to be, it would have rocked…but SLB was not in form for some reason….Saawariya could have been so much more…The tragedy was that it wasn’t
